Climbing for Change

Imagine a crisp morning at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort in Edmonton. The sun rises as determined participants scale the hill repeatedly. Laughter, cheers, and footsteps fill the air as individuals and teams match the elevation of iconic mountains like Everest, Denali, or Rainier. This isn't your average charity event—it's Climbing for Change, returning September 27-28, 2025.

What Makes Climbing for Change Special?

Climbing for Change is a 24-hour endurance challenge that transforms a ski hill into a hub of community action. Participants climb repeatedly for a full day, covering distances equivalent to the world's tallest peaks. Whether solo or in teams of up to six, this event demands grit, persistence, and teamwork.

Unlike typical charity runs spread across city streets, Climbing for Change creates a concentrated energy zone where participants and supporters meet, cheer, and encourage one another throughout the entire event. This unique format fosters an exceptional community spirit rarely seen in fundraising events.

The Charity Village stands at the heart of the event—a vibrant space with food trucks, DJs, sports medicine professionals, and tents for participating organizations. Here, participants and supporters connect directly with the causes they're supporting, creating awareness and building meaningful relationships.

Elevating Local Charities One Step at a Time

What truly matters is the impact on local causes. Each participant chooses a charity from registered Alberta organizations to fundraise for, ensuring every step translates directly into positive change. From youth programs to food security initiatives, the collective effort ripples across the community in tangible ways.

Last year, Climbing for Change raised $40,000 for local charities. This year, the goal has been ambitiously set at $100,000. These funds directly support organizations working on the ground in Alberta communities.

The Charities Behind the Climb

The event spotlights numerous local organizations doing critical work in our province. Participating charities set up in the Charity Village, sharing their missions and connecting with supporters. This creates a unique opportunity for these organizations to raise awareness beyond just receiving funds.

Each charity brings its own story and mission to the event. Some focus on health initiatives, others on education or social support. What unites them is their dedication to improving lives in our community—and Climbing for Change amplifies their impact.
